Have you ever dreamed of moving to the United States? Or maybe to just spend a year in the country of your dreams?
When I first came to the Unites States, I was an Au Pair in the Washington D.C. area and fell in love with the country and culture.
I went back to my home country Germany for some time and got very lucky to find a job at a company that has a subsidiary in the United States. I never thought it would be possible for me to switch offices – but now I’m here, in beautiful New Jersey, and very excited to share my experiences with you!
I’m writing this blog to share stories about my au pair years and my expat life, the organizational stuff (there’s so much to consider before making big decisions like a move to a different country) and what it takes to get there. I would love to help you pursue your dream of a stay in the United States, whether for an au pair year or long term. Hopefully my blog will inspire you to make the right decisions and help you organize your move. I want to show you how much fun life in the US can be, but also share useful tips, so you can avoid a few mistakes I have made.
Here is a little more about me:
My name is Isa and I’m an americanized German. When I’m not blogging or working, I’m a little obsessed with photography and I love the Jersey beach life, especially in the summer. On the weekends you can often find me sightseeing and discovering new food-places in New York City. There are many trendy restaurants in the city, but I always prefer the cupcake or ice cream place next door. Living on the east coast makes it easy to take weekend trips, since there are so many beautiful cities around. Washington D.C. is still one of my favorites, going back there for a visit always feels a little bit like coming home.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.
I’m can’t wait to hear from you!
